If you decide to travel to Plymouth by coach or bus, then you have various options, with various bus companies connecting Plymouth to several UK cities. One of main coach companies to Plymouth, Devon is National Express, which are arguably expensive, although they do have what are called Funfares and these can be very cheap.
Megabus to Plymouth
Another company travelling to Plymouth is First, although they only connect Plymouth with locations within Devon and Cornwall. Your best bet if traveling from London and are on a budget is to travel with Megabus who often have fares from as low as 1 pound, according to availability.
Bretonside Bus and Coach Station
The coaches and buses leave from Bretonside bus and coach station and this is situated on the edge of the city centre in Plymouth next to Charles Cross 
Roundabout. From Bretonside you are literally only about 500 meters from the start of the Barbican.
