Plymouth in England

Guide to City College, Plymouth

Education remains one of the most important aspects of our society. Without education it is much more difficult for a person to succeed and there are certain professions which you can never enter without the relevant qualifications. Educational institutions, therefore, are often the linchpin of a town and are important to harbour and develop the talents and City Collegeambitions of its inhabitants. City College Plymouth is one such institution.

City College Plymouth is a large and established institution which has approx 3,300 full time students and a great deal more part time students. The college has two main sites, one in Keyham and one in Devonport. Both sites are modern developments in which a high level of education can be delivered to people of all ages and abilities.

One of the best features of City College is that it has such a diverse range of courses. The GCSE courses are generally part time and are suitable for those who perhaps don’t have the grades which they desire and wish to improve on them whilst working or undertaking another full time course. At level 3 there is an extensive range of A level courses which can either be studied on a full or part time basis, as well as BTECs and NVQ’s which offer a more vocational alternative.

The range of Access courses available provide an opportunity for people to gain a specific qualification to help them gain a place at university. For those who would rather study at a higher level in Plymouth, there are Foundation Degree courses which can be studied at City College Plymouth.
