Get ready for the 2010 Plymouth Half Marathon

History

The first annual Plymouth Half Marathon was held in the early 1980’s to help boost dwindling participant numbers in the Plymouth Marathon. Gradually, as the half marathon began having more success than its predecessor, the primary marathon was cancelled and the half marathon took its place. The half marathon was initially organised by the Plymouth Junior Chamber of Commerce.

The organising agency kept changing hands and in 1993, this led to the half marathon not being conducted. However, it was soon revived by passionate athletes and a new sponsor and has been running it smoothly ever since.

...and present day

As one of the top 10 half marathons across the UK, the Plymouth Marathon has grown in leaps and bounds since 1994 when it first had 800 participants. And now it is time to start thinking about the 2010 Half Marathon. We are already down to 8 months before the next one and in a few months time you might want gradually begin to think (not necessarily start though :) preparing for May 2010. You have to be in it to win it!
