Torquay lies at the heart of the English Riviera in South Devon and is one of the most picturesque resorts in Britain. The town enjoys mild weather throughout the year and has many great tourist attraction within easy reach and also boasts serene coastal views.
Torquay was once a small fishing hamlet that went on to become the country’s leading tourist resort, during the reign of Queen Victoria. Today, this beach resort is very popular 
among tourists of all ages, including a quite high percentage of retirees. Elizabeth Barrett Browning is credited to have visited this town, which was also reputed to be the home of the writer, Agatha Christie. Apart from the sea, the other attractions in the area include many historical sights like the Kent’s Cavern, a network of caves where the earliest signs of humankind was found.
The region is well connected by rail to other parts of England and tourists will be able to enjoy views of the picturesque white Victorian houses and villas along the hillside.
