The Hoe is within walking distance of the city centre - taking anything from 5 - 15 minutes, depending on your walking speed. The Hoe looks over Plymouth Sound and Drake's Island. You can go up the Lighthouse on the Hoe also in the main months.
if you visit Plymouth for a weekened then certainly I would recommend taking a walk on the Hoe, go up inside Smeaton's Tower (the lighthouse) and take a walk on the Barbican (home also to Plymouth Aquarium).
